Welcome Reception - "A Taste of Pittsburgh"

Conference attendees are invited to attend a Welcome Reception on Monday, November 6, sponsored by the IEEE Magnetics Society. This reception will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, overlooking the beautiful Allegheny River and the stunning bridges of Pittsburgh that help make the city such a unique place to visit. You’ll enjoy an authentic taste of the city of Pittsburgh as you sample local street food specialties like pierogis, buffalo cauliflower and those famous Pittsburgh-style sandwiches made with French fries right in the middle! And, of course, there will be a great selection of local beers. Who knows, you may even get to meet a surprise Pittsburgh celebrity! Don’t miss this fantastic kick-off event- it is a great way to start your week at MMM!

Next Generation Magneticians Group

Its Your Future and Your Society! Join the IEEE Magnetics Society “Next Generation Magneticians” Group and Have Your Say! All Graduate Students and Post-Docs attending MMM 2017 are invited to attend the inaugural Next Generation Magneticians Group meeting.

The Magnetics Society is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Next Generation Magneticians to help shape the future of the Society and the future of Magnetism. Join representatives from the MagSoc Technical Committee to brainstorm on how you would like to shape your future; input will be provided to the Technical Committee for next steps. Light refreshments will be served.

All graduate students, researchers and retirees are encouraged to attend.

Young Professionals Networking Luncheon

If you have just recently entered the professional workforce, you are invited to attend this special luncheon event. Dr. Parans Paranthaman, Distinguished Scientist, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Professor, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will give a talk on Preparing Successful Research Proposals: A General Guide for Young Professionals. Please join us for professional development insights, networking and a light lunch.

Magnetism as Art Showcase
