Exploring the Effects of Reduced Dimensionality on Frustrated Quantum Magnets

Competing interactions in frustrated magnetic systems can generate highly degenerate ground states from which correlated, liquid like phases of matter may emerge. How this degeneracy scales is central to determining the ultimate ground state, with dimensionality playing a crucial role in shaping the outcome. This symposium welcomes experimental and theoretical contributions on frustrated quantum magnets, particularly those in which the underlying magnetic sublattices strongly influence the resulting magnetic ground state.

Magnetic refrigeration is a rapidly advancing field that bridges fundamental physics, materials science, and engineering, enabling cooling technologies across an exceptionally wide temperature range: from millikelvin cryogenics (Steffen Saubert) to hydrogen liquefaction (Xin Tang) and high-efficiency room-temperature refrigeration (Joao Amaral). We focus on the fundamental mechanisms of magnetocaloric effects, the design and discovery of advanced magnetic materials, and the development of scalable device concepts, bringing together both invited and contributed talks to foster cross-disciplinary discussions across different temperature regimes and length scales.

We welcome contributions with impact on fundamental neuroscience and clinical translation, including wireless magnetic transducers, ultra sensitive magnetometry, and translational biomagnetic engineering involving magnetic materials development, coil design, and experimental validation platforms.
